Mission Engagement Opportunities:
A) Missions Partnership Project: Church Building on Ometepe Island
We are launching a new missions partnership project with our brothers and sisters in Nicaragua aiming with God's help to construct a church building as a tool for ministry and outreach. We are planning to send a team of volunteers from our church April 6-13th to get to know our brothers and sisters there, to do some children's ministry and help break ground. Our goal for 2024 is to raise $30,000 toward this project that we can combine with offerings raised in previous years and with support from other BIC Churches to raise the total amount of $75,000 needed. Please consider what you can contribute toward this offering project and when you give, mark your gift "Nicaragua Project."
B) That All May See - During the month of February we will be collecting all varieties of eyewear. Used glasses, reading glasses, sunglasses, safety glasses. The healthcare ministry, That All May See, provides vision care services including assessment, education, and glasses so that all may see physically. Please visit their website to learn more: That All May See Website
C) Food Drive for the Open Arms Mission - each Sunday during the month of February you will find brown paper grocery bags on the chairs at church that you can take home and fill with non-perishable food/hygiene items. Bring the bags back to church and place them in the collection bin that is located in the foyer. If you're not attending church on Sunday's feel free to drop off your donations of non-perishable food/hygiene items at church during office hours. Thanks!
D) Gift the Thrift! - Simplify your lives and help others by donating gently used, quality items (clothing and accessories, housewares, small appliances, linens, toys, games, puzzles, media, and books) dropping them off by the church entrance on Sunday, February 11th between 9:30 and 10:00 am. These items will be sold through our Thrift Shops in Welland (New to You) and Port Colborne (Port Thrift), with all proceeds support worthwhile causes locally and internationally. Please note that we will not be collecting large appliances, furniture, car seats, cribs, helmets or mattresses. Visit the MCC website for more information.
E) Dollar-a-Day for Missions Initiative - this year we are inviting everyone to join or re-join this initiative which has been used by God to generate solid financial support to help others experience the love of Jesus at home and around the world. The invitation is for everyone to give a relatively modest amount ($1.00 a Day) for missions, so that together with God's favour we can have an even greater impact. Sign-up here: Dollar A Day
